ARK Knowledge Base: Facebook Business Page

Working with a marketing or advertising agency who has requested access to your Facebook business page? There are many reasons a marketing firm would need this type of access, but here at ARK, we use full control/admin access for social posting, social ads, directory management, and reputation management. Adding a new user may sound like a tedious task, especially since Facebook seems to be ever changing, but we’re here to give you step-by-step instructions to make it a super easy one to complete.

This how-to is brought to you straight from our ARK Knowledge base, and is part of our amazing blog series we like to call, “ARK Knowledge Base: Things You May Need to Know.” We’re giving special access to our expert skills and sharing some pretty important know-hows for small business owners. So, keep your eyes open for more of our “How-To: [Insert the Thing You May Need to Know Here 🤭]” posts because we can’t wait to share more nuggets of information! Now, let get into this whole Facebook thing!

How-To Give Facebook Page Access

Regular Page Access:

Giving full access, or admin access, to your Facebook business page provides that user with the capabilities to switch over to the business page itself and make edits to all page information (hours, address, phone number, email, etc.). In addition, the user will also be able to post, comment, like, and respond to reviews as the business.

YOUR STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE IF YOUR PAGE IS USING THE NEW PAGE EXPERIENCE

Step 1: While on your page, click on the Manage button (with tool icons) located in the upper right hand corner – next to your page name and under your cover photo.

Step 2: A new page will load with a sidebar on the left hand side (the Professional Dashboard). From this menu, click Page Access.

Step 3: At the top of this page you will see a section titled. “People with Facebook access.” Click on the Add New link and follow the prompts, typing in the personal profile name (or email) of the person you will be giving access to. Once you find the person who’s profile picture matches the profile you will be adding as a user, click on their name.

Step 4: Toggle on the option for “Allow this person to have full control” and click Give Access. Once your request is processed, the person you have invited to access your page will be sent an invitation via their notifications. Once accepted, this new user’s role will be effective immediately and you’re all set!

YOUR STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE IF YOUR PAGE IS STILL USING THE CLASSIC PAGE FORMAT

NOTE: This page format will be phased out by Facebook in the near future, so if you are still using this format when it becomes obsolete, your page will automatically update to the New Page Experience on it’s own. Alternatively, you can go ahead and make the switch yourself. Learn More

Step 1: While on your page, click Settings (gear icon) located in the left sidebar menu.

Step 2: A new page will load with another sidebar on the left hand side (Page Settings). From this menu, click Page Roles.

Step 3: Scroll to the “Assign a new Page role” section and type  in the personal profile name (or email) of the person you will be giving access to. Be sure to click on the person who’s profile picture matches the profile you will be adding as a user.

Step 4: Change the dropdown option to the right of the user’s name to Admin and then click Add. You will have to enter your Facebook password for security purposes. Once your request is processed, the person you have invited to access your page will be sent an invitation via their notifications. Once accepted, this new user’s role will be effective immediately and you’re all set!

Meta Business Suite Access:

You’re going to love this one (it’s way less steps 😉)! Plus, the same set of instructions apply to both the New Page Experience and the Classic Page format. Whoop whoop!

NOTE: in order to give a user access to your Meta Business Suite, they will already have to be a user within the business’ page, as directed in the section above.

YOUR STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

Step 1: Check the email inbox that is connected to the page owner’s Facebook account. Find and open the email from Facebook with the subject line “ARK Marketing (or whoever has requested access) requested access to your business’ page.”

Step 2: Click on the approval link inside of this email to grant the requester access to your business page’s Meta Business Suite. Once approved, the user you’ve granted access to will be able to start managing your business suite effective immediately. And you’re good to go!
